2011 Spirit of Butler County Award

The corporate culture of C.W. Howard Agency is one of community commitment. Under the leadership of President Jocelyn Howard Sinopoli, employees are encouraged to be involved. Jocelyn herself has been active on multiple Boards including the Butler County Chamber of Commerce, Lifesteps, the Rotary Club of Butler and Butler County Community College Foundation. She was a committee member for Butler Health System’s Crystal Ball and is a member of “Women United”, the United Way Women’s Leadership Initiative. She is the 2011 winner of the Senior Distinguished Service Award.

Jeff Howard, Vice President, currently serves on the Board of The Gaiser Center. Lisa Howard Sommers is a member of the Leadership Butler County Board and many of the C.W. Howard Agency employees are graduates of Leadership Butler County. Larry Sommers is an officer with the Butler County Young Professionals. Both Larry and Lisa participated in a special Week of Caring Project with the Young Professionals, building a walking trail at the Butler County Children’s Center Mount Chestnut site.

The 14 employees of C.W. Howard Agency turn in 100% participation in their United Way Employee Workplace Campaign and participate in Week of Caring each year. The Agency has sponsored commercials and events for United Way as well as sponsorships and contributions to many other non-profits in Butler County and beyond. For several years, C.W. Howard Agency has worked with the Island Neighborhood doing Saturday clean-up projects.
While not an employee of C.W. Howard Agency, Dr. Henry Sinopoli, Jocelyn’s husband, is also active in community organizations, most notably as Chairman of the Board of the Moraine Trails Council-Boy Scouts of America. He is also chairman of the Education Impact Council for United Way and has lent his expertise and support to multiple organizations. He has been an active leader for the clean-up projects in the Island Neighborhood.

The United Way is pleased to present the Spirit of Butler County Award to this group of dedicated community citizens.
